What is a PIM?
A PIM solution (Product Information Management) allows you to centralize your product data in a single database, classify it, enrich it, and distribute it easily across your various distribution channels (printed catalogue, e-commerce website, marketplaces, applications, InDesign, etc.).

(FAB-DIS, ETIM…)?
There are many data exchange formats (FAB-DIS, ETIM…) which are models and standards that make it easy to exchange commercial and technical product data, following the same standardization, for example, between manufacturers and distributors (the best known being the FAB-DIS format), often used in industrial sectors.

Can the PIM and data exchange formats be compatible?
The PIM centralizes your product data and distributes it across your sales channels; data exchange formats aim instead to standardize data to meet common standards so they can be exchanged more easily, for example between manufacturers and distributors.
Through its import/export system, the PIM makes it easy to perform imports/exports and therefore allows you to comply with FAB-DIS and ETIM standards and formats.
To know whether a PIM can comply with FAB-DIS standards, simply check whether it is a FAB-DIS Inside tool (validated by FAB-DIS). Our Interactiv’ DataBase PIM software is FAB-DIS Inside. Moreover, it supports FAB-DIS versions 2.3 and 3.0, whether for imports or exports.
